cartwheels and round offs

Chloe won't let me post hers. So, sadly, you guys are just stuck with mines.

you say i'm foolish, for pushing this aside

my heart just melted...

Damon Albarn = ♥ ♥ ♥ forever.

I'm going to play this every night before bed. It'll be like Mr. Albarn is singing me to sleep but not... (*I realize the creepiness factor of this statement)

louie, louie

Just Chloe, Kristen and myself dancing it out.

It's getting closer and closer to the holidays, finals are coming up, portfolios to finish, presentations to do, deadlines to meet, facing the fact that we have to enter the "real world" and being scared shitless about it, and the list goes on...so you can guess we are getting a bit stressed out. So as always, we just danced it out.

if you don't know about "dancing it out" read this past post.

clearly we are sane people.

i whip my hair back and forth

"Whip My Hair" - Willow Smith

This is my jam. For realz, I am still obsessed with this song.

Why couldn't I have Will & Jada as my parents? Then I would be as cool and talented as Jaden and Willow.

and whatever I like this too.
(I never claimed to have good taste in music.)

"Never Say Never- Justin Bieber ft. Jaden Smith

Obviously, Jaden is the best part of this song and video. 2:10 is where the song jumps off.

steady walking but bound to trip

You mean that much to me
And it's hard to show
Gets hectic inside of me
When you go
Can I confess these things
To you
Well I don't know
Embedded in my chest
And it
Hurts to hold

Night Time - The xx

my life in mobile pictures pt 5

I've been such a negative Nancy these days. Monday was a nice break from reality. Just super chill and hung with some of my favourite people. Last time I saw everyone was back at SXSW this year and maybe even longer with Jenny (who plays in Other Lives). It was my first time seeing The Fling but had heard much about them through mutual friends and they were lovely guys.

Jenny, Brook and myself ate at WA in Lawrence before meeting up with the guys at the venue. They played the Jackpot.

it was a really great show. the first day of the tour started off well, i'd say.

the rest of the photos speak for themselves. We watched 'Almost Famous' and of course sang along to "Tiny Dancer", I mean who doesn't when that scene comes on?

that night was my last night of drinking. master cleanse part two started yesterday!
"hold me closer tiny dancer, count headlights on the highway"
snakes
definitely a good night/morning.

you and me in the photobooth

" this pic speaks very true of you patrice. it's like the gin and the coffee you" - Chelsea Simonne

Okay, it's no secret that I LOVE/am a sucker for photobooths. I just made a FB album dedicated to photobooth photos of my friends and I over the past couple of years. I know I am missing some but there are some ace ones on there right now. The album is open for everyone to see, so even if we aren't friends on FB you can still look at it! Definitely will be adding more to it.

this house is a circus, beserk as fuck

I am never going to get done updating all the adventures from last month. Here are some more from NYC. So many weird things happened throughout CMJ, I am still baffled by some of it.

All photos are by Caitlin McMullen unless stated otherwise.

So we went to the Panache Showcase (as you already know, if you have been keeping up with the blog). It was awesome. We drank a lot of strongbow and whiskey. Danced it out and it was a lot of fun.

*I don't understand how Caitlin always remains normal in photos and Leia and I always look most ridiculous.

photos of me at the Turbo Fruits show keeps popping up everywhere and everyone feels inclined to send them to me. There is an epic one taken by Edwina Hay, she even put it on her official photography website...that's fine... I even think there are a couple on brooklyn vegan which Leia took photos for.

I wouldn't be nearly embarrassed if it weren't for the fact that I am in it looking gross. Leia hates that she is in the photo as well, besides that it's a cool photo.

Caitlin took this one.
seriously though, it could be worse. I could be the kid in this photo I took at the show.

dude is seriously posing with Jonas as if it's prom. One of my favorite photos from this year, for sure.

if you are FB friends with me you saw the caption...Leia is our special friend.

it was SO fun shooting CMJ with an old analog minolta camera. SO fun.
this one was taken by Leia. I swear I get so lazy when I am in BK. I just sit around the apartment watching movies and doing "stuff" on my laptop.

this was the last day I was in new york, CMJ was done and we all hated life (sleep deprived and so much work to do; pieces to write, photos to get develop and/or edit).

Just standing outside our local joint. Seriously, it's the best.

This was taken at 3am . We were watching Remember Me, because we are cool like that. It seems like it has become tradition for us to stay up all night the night before I leave. I always book early flights and my flight was at 5:45am. So obviously there was no point in trying to sleep and I am an insomniac anyways so...

Well, I had pretty much had zero clean clothes after nearly a month of traveling. So the only shirt that didn't smell gross, was my Mystery Jets shirt. Okay, I DO love this shirt but as you can tell I get a lot of strange looks wearing it. You can imagine what it was like at the airport. One of the ladies at security took a look at my shirt, just shook her head and notion me to go get my bags...

here is a closer look at what is printed on my Mystery Jets shirt. It's so gross but I still love it.

I'd say it's much more tame than The Virgins dicks shirt...does anyone remember those?

Anyways, my life in mobile pictures is making a comeback on the blog. Wait for it! There are some winners on there.

Expect a flood of updates from my trips mixed in with other random posts.

Peace!

it's just a game and if you know the rules you can't get hurt

I've been dancing it out like nobody's business tonight! Trying to release some stress and work out things in my head. So what do I do? Of course, clean and organize. Currently I am purging my DVDs again. According to my excel spreadsheet (don't judge), I own 328 DVDs (that is including TV shows on DVD). I know, hoarder, but at least a highly organized hoarder.

I am glad that my crush dilemma is figured out. After a good conversation with one of my friends tonight, it's now all perfectly clear. So simple and easy. And since I live in my head and constantly overanalyzing even the smallest things, I missed the big picture. Well, I am not sure that is phrase I am looking for, but you know what I mean.

Anyways...

I really dislike how much I enjoy The Like's second album. It's so catchy! "Narcissus In A Red Dress" is my favorite off the album.

I love this video and the song is really fun to dance to.

"He's Not A Boy" - The Like

And whilst on the topic of The Like. Watch this short film/music video directed by Gia Coppola for Zac Posen.

I know the twist was my thing for a while but now I've moved onto the mash potato. Listening to too much music from the 60s these days. And sadly, those who unfortunately have to hang with me will most likely be forced into doing the dance with me at shows or mini dances parties that tend to happen in our rooms.

stoned to death

I am still developing as "writer". Which translates into I SUCK as a writer. I can barely write my own name much less a review, yet here is my attempt of what I thought were the best acts of CMJ for Popwreckoning. Don't laugh, but it's okay if you do. I'll only hold it slightly against you.

I am still pissed that the cameras I normally use broke RIGHT before I left for 3 weeks. Legit, packing the night before leaving for Los Angeles and I was testing all my cameras to find out two of my lenses were broken. Of course, when I realised this it was too late to go to a camera shop a rent a lens (why do camera shops in KC close at like 5pm?) and I definitely couldn't afford to buy one straight away....so I had to result to the OG analog minolta f/2.4, no flash (yikesss) and also the oh so classic disposable camera. And you know you mean business when you take a photo with your iPhone.

For example:

*you don't even need to say it because I already know. yeah. Totally FUBAR the whole situation.

Golden Triangle at Shea Stadium

Needless to say, my photos weren't up to par. Let's be honest, they were quite shit, but what can you do? Have to make use of what you got I suppose...still sucks though.

Check it out if you want. A Foals piece is soon to come as well.

Additional note: One may ask why didn't I just rent a lens in the various cities I was in. Well that would be cool if the lens I use wasn't worth about 1,000 dollars, so when you rent a lens they take out that money until the lens you rent is returned, and then they'll credit your money back anywhere from 3-5 business days. 1,000 dollars is a lot of money not to have access to whilst travelling. Especially with my tendencies of falling ill and landing in hospitals (I think it's safe to joke about that now, yeah?). So, you can see my dilemma.

Anyways...

In KC they roll differently. For some reason they trust their customers, so you can rent a lens for as long as you like and then you pay for the rental fee when you are done. Simple as that...

Well, enough whining. I have lenses again and all is well.

Coming soon, Caitlin's photos from CMJ. They'll give you a good laugh. At least it did for us.

strange desire

As much as I enjoy wearing dresses and trying to perfect the effortless parisian chic style. A lot of the times I feel most comfortable and sexiest just rocking a good pair of denim jeans, a white tee or tank top and some boots or wedge heels. Throw a leather jacket on top of that or a denim button down, toss your hair, leaving it a bit wavy and messy and you are set to go. Cliche? Maybe, but why fix what isn't broken?

pinning for someone to notice you, hiding it when he does

"I've Been Thinking" - Handsome Boy Modeling School (ft. Cat Power)

this song is so good and relevant. Cat Power = ♥

"I've been thinking 'bout
Why you act so proud
I've been thinking 'bout
What's this shit about
Am I losing control?
Am I losing my soul?
Just tell me
Am I losing you?"

*sorry for not crediting photos, I am horrible with remembering where I find photos. Don't hesitate to email me to give you proper credit!
