My favorite roids from last week at the Maccabees show in NYC.
Such a good night.

bite the lightening and tell me how it tastes

Seeing these dudes was the highlight of my day yesterday. Actually, whenever I run into them it's usually the highlight of my day.

Photos from their set slowly being uploaded on my flickr.

new york city cops, they ain't too smart

(new york adventures continue)

While doing some major shopping damage in SoHo, on my way out of Madewell I ran into Fabrizio Moretti. He was waiting on his girlfriend, Binki Shaprio (who I also talked to while in line to check out).

I can not gush about Fab enough. So much love for him and it doesn't hurt that he is in one of my all time favorite bands. Anyways, he is just the most genuine person I've ever met. He's always SO kind and never minds my constant urge to take photographs. We talked for a good 15-20 minutes before nature had it's way and there was a downpour...

Not gonna lie, this may be one of my favorite polaroids from this trip. I am happy I took it and it turned out well in my humble opinion.

*look at that FACE. doesn't it melt your heart? Binki is a lucky lady.

cherokee blood

Now, that I am all caught up on SXSW stuff, I can FINALLY dig into current things, like my recent Cali trip and Kelsey and I's visit to the zoo.

Until then, here is a polaroid of me being a sad and tired indian girl by the shore in Monterey.

(by the way, I pretty much wore this headdress all Coachella weekend)

night thoughts of a tired surgeon

Back to talking about SXSW....

WARNING: some major fan-girling will be happening in this post.

Alright, one band that completely fucking STOLE my heart was The Veils.

I've met Finn before whilst spending some time in NYC last summer, but didn't actually get to see them play live because the show was sold out.

Finn was a total sweetheart and we chatted a bit and I took his polaroid.

last summer:

For me, The Veils were one of those bands I HAD to see during SXSW and one of the few shows that I actually attended. I have only heard great things about them live and how amazing they are as people, I had to check it out for myself.

Luckily, they were playing a daytime party at Lustre Pearl with some other great bands like Dawes and Delta Spirit (which I'll post photos of that later...)

Now, I had some pretty high expectations for this band and let me tell you, I was not disappointed. They were great, even for playing so early in the day. I know a lot of bands feel they play better at night but they were uh-maze-ing.

So, I am not going to lie, I still get really nervous when I ask bands to take their polaroids or photograph them in general. I overanalyze, try and think of something clever to say, etc etc...I'm just hot crock pot mess when it comes to these things. I don't know why. I'm just really neurotic that way...

When I saw the band just standing around at the end of the daytime show, I finally mustered up enough courage to talk to them and ask to take their polaroid. They were more than ecstatic to this request. After I took the polaroid Finn remembered me from when I took his polaroid in NYC. He said there aren't that may people out there still taking polaroids, especially one with a mustache on it (my spectra polaroid camera has a fake mustache on it.)

Anyways, the whole band were complete sweethearts and hoped I would make it to their evening show errrr technically morning, the show was at 1am...but things didn't quite work out and I burned a bridge with the venue they were playing at earlier that week...blah blah blah...but I am glad to have seem them live, finally. And, I hope to see them again soon. And spend some proper time with them. They seem incredibly nice.

the whole crew, freaking adorable

i'm a constant sinner, a conscience killer

Robert Levon Been (Black Rebel Motorcycle Club)

I am not sure if I need to link these photos back to flickr, or it does it go without saying that I took these polaroids on the blog, unless stated otherwise, these are ALL my photos. Just wanted to clarify.

Anyways, story time. BRMC is another band I did not get to see during SXSW. I HEARD BRMC whilst sitting in a alley at a show I couldn't get into because they reached capacity but didn't actually see them. Again, what band did I actually see, and how many times did I watch Twilight while in Austin? I did manage to throw in some X-Files and Twin Peaks watching while I was there but yeah mainly really horrible movies were watched like Twilight and um *cough* Spice World *cough*

Whatever, I have no shame. Those movies are classics, they will stand the test of time. You just wait.

But bringing it back to BRMC, from what I HEARD it sounded pretty awesome and I wished I planned it better and actually got to see them perform the new songs and see the new drummer, Leah, rock it out.

I had planned on seeing them in St. Louis the day after I got back from Austin but wasn't feeling well, therefore couldn't go, even though my friend was offering me a ride and I could sleep the whole time, I just couldn't muster any energy/strength to go.

Well, turns out my friend told the band this and the band told my friend to call me and tell me they wish I were able to be at the the show and they love my photographs and they hope I feel better soon and that they hope it was nothing serious.

*cue the "awwwwwwsss"*

I mean SERIOUSLY! That was really sweet.

Now, not to be outdone by The Veils who also sent me a message. That shall be saved for another post.
