i just dance the way i feel pt. 3

Alright, FINALLY the last installment of the NYE plans. A little late but whatever. I hope everyone's plans were a success and that everyone had a great safe new years, spent time with good friends and had an ace time doing so. Also I hope everyone danced their little hearts out and had plenty of magical moments. Oh and of course got their swag on and whipped their hair back and forth as much as possible. And hopefully got to kiss the person they wanted at midnight!

Malia

Your current location: Los Angeles

Where/how will you be spending NYE (bar, club, friends house, etc)?

I'm staying home with my bandmate (Scotty from Black Ryder), having champagne, playing music, and storyboarding for the Zaza music video I'm shooting next week.

What is the one song that really gets you ready to go out?

David Bowie's record Changes. In fact, I listened to it last NYE as I was getting dressed.

What are your going out essentials?

My own car, so I can escape whenever I want.

What is the one song that always gets you on the dancefloor?

New Order "Ceremony"

What would you spin if you were the dj?

Nick Cave "The Singer"

What drink will you be holding throughout the night?

Coffee, water, Champagne.

Who do you wish you could kiss at midnight (celebrity or non)?

He's very far away and shall remain nameless.

What do you do after the party (go to another location, crash)?

I don't really go out much.

Your hangover cure?

Not going out the night before, but on the occasions when I do, I tend to spend the next day having a "carpet picnic" on the carpet in my studio. I bring all the blankets and pillows from the house and set up camp in there to watch movies all day on my computer screen.

Ilijrana

Your current location: Brooklyn, New York

Where/how will you be spending NYE (bar, club, friends house, etc)?

Seeing one of the bands on my label, Magick Mountain play with Ariel Pink and Outer Limits Recordings in a warehouse somewhere in Bushwick.

What is the one song that really gets you ready to go out?

Teenage Dream - Katy Perry

What are your going out essentials?

Friends.

What is the one song that always gets you on the dancefloor?

Eisbär - Grauzone

What would you spin if you were the dj?

The above two tracks.

What drink will you be holding throughout the night?

Whiskey or vodka.

Who do you wish you could kiss at midnight (celebrity or non)?

Oh, he will be there and he knows.

What do you do after the party (go to another location, crash)?

Depends really if I am tired or not.

Your hangover cure?

Sleep.

Joanna

Your current location: Edinburgh

Where/how will you be spending NYE (bar, club, friends house, etc)?

People are drinking the required champagne at mine, then into town to watch the fireworks, possibly stopping off for a drink on the way, then on to a party at our favourite pretentious bar. Perhaps some tacky dancing at the Mexican club come seedy den next door when we're royally slaughtered in the am. Then winding down with a first-of-the-year sunrise cigarette before all passing out in someone's house.

What is the one song that really gets you ready to go out?

Ghetto Music by Outkast, because like any self respecting white girl I love me some retro hiphop

What are your going out essentials?

Disposable (I am too self-aware hip (read: poor) for a digital..). Glitter because I have become obsessed with it lately and it’s nice to find it sprinkled about the morning after. ID. Mascara/Eyeliner. Brush. Phone. Tobacco etc. And chapstick of course.

What is the one song that always gets you on the dancefloor?

Lisztomania- Phoenix

What would you spin if you were the dj?

A nice remix of I need a Dollar by Aloe Blacc or something of the sort (I'm assuming that as I'm the dj I actually have the skills to do this..) because I reckon everyone could love that.

What drink will you be holding throughout the night?

Vodka soda and lime…for some reason we convinced ourselves it's the healthy hangover-immune beverage to drink. Maybe some whiskey in a hip flask for warmth during fire-work watching. In fact whiskey and ginger ale to wind the evening down is perfect.

Who do you wish you could kiss at midnight (celebrity or non)?

As I am firmly committed to my spinsterdom there are no non-celebrities on my radar. I have to say, much like most of the female populous, James Franco is seeming more appealing than ever (we can forgive him the failed foray into literature...)

What to do after the party?

Bail back to someone's flat for quiet drinking and smoking until we submit to sleep.

Your hangover cure?

Drinking water like a fish, Sainsbury’s basics prawn mayo sandwich and copious amounts of black coffee.

Julie

Your current location: Paris

Where/how will you be spending NYE (bar, club, friends house, etc)?

I'm invited to a costume party themed on animals. I'm gonna wear a super comfy red panda outfit. How sexy is that?

What is the one song that really gets you ready to go out?

Queen Of The Night by Whitney Houston (sorry to interject, but Julie this answer just made me love you more, if that is even possible! xoxo Patrice)

What are your going out essentials?

Cigs, Red Bull and burger cheese slices

What is the one song that always gets you on the dancefloor?

Rah, rah, ah ah ah, Roma, roma, ma, Gaga, Ooh, la la…

What would you spin if you were the dj?

Feel good girly tunes only:

The Shoop Shoop Song - Cher

Disco Heaven - Lady Gaga

Who Do You Think You Are - Spice Girls

This Is How We Party - S.O.A.P

Let's Get Loud - Jennifer Lopez

2 Hearts - Kylie Minogue

Party In The U.S.A - Miley Cyrus

Something Kinda Ooooh - Girls Aloud

Teenage Dream - Katy Perry

In The Middle - Sugababes

That kind of stuff ;)

What drink will you be holding throughout the night?

Champagne

Who do you wish you could kiss at midnight (celebrity or non)?

Keenan Cahill or Caleb Followill

What to do after the party?

I'll be eating pickles fully clothed in my bed

Your hangover cure?

Crappy reality TV shows and forehead kisses

Myself

Your current location: Kansas City

Where/how will you be spending NYE (bar, club, friends house, etc)?

Hanging with some friends in Nashville, catching some bands at The End (Natural Child, Turbo Fruits, PUJOL and more). Then probably head to a party afterwards or go home and depending on intoxication levels.

What is the one song that really gets you ready to go out?

Ms. Fat Booty- Mos Def

or

If I Ever Feel Better – Phoenix

What are your going out essentials?

disposable cameras, cell phone, phone charger (you know how the iphone sucks up your battery power), red lipstick, wallet, car/house keys, travel size tissue paper (hey! Haven’t you ever been in a bathroom and you realize a little too late that there’s no toilet paper? Mmhhmm, that is what I thought.)

What is the one song that always gets you on the dancefloor?

A Thing For Me – Metronomy

or

Telephone – Lady Gaga

What would you spin if you were the dj?

Hmmm, some Motown, stuff from Stax Records, some hip/hop and of course some 90s R&B baby making jams, (you know, a little Dru Hill, Ginuwine, Tyrese, etc…)

What drink will you be holding throughout the night?

Gin & Tonic, Whiskey or Club Soda with a lime…depends on what my situation and mood is.

Who do you wish you could kiss at midnight (celebrity or non)?

Gaspard Ulliel or Andrew Garfield

What to do after the party?

Rather depends, if I drove there myself (which I prefer), I usually bounce early, go home, watch movies and pass out before the opening credits are finished (thug life!). If it is the other way around, I suppose it is where ever I am taken to next. Usually it’s a party, somewhere to eat food then home.

Your hangover cure?

some advil, XXX Vitamin Water (it can only be that flavor. I have tired others and it’s doesn’t work) and I am good to go. I also stay hydrated throughout the day…

it's just a game and if you know the rules you can't get hurt

I've been dancing it out like nobody's business tonight! Trying to release some stress and work out things in my head. So what do I do? Of course, clean and organize. Currently I am purging my DVDs again. According to my excel spreadsheet (don't judge), I own 328 DVDs (that is including TV shows on DVD). I know, hoarder, but at least a highly organized hoarder.

I am glad that my crush dilemma is figured out. After a good conversation with one of my friends tonight, it's now all perfectly clear. So simple and easy. And since I live in my head and constantly overanalyzing even the smallest things, I missed the big picture. Well, I am not sure that is phrase I am looking for, but you know what I mean.

Anyways...

I really dislike how much I enjoy The Like's second album. It's so catchy! "Narcissus In A Red Dress" is my favorite off the album.

I love this video and the song is really fun to dance to.

"He's Not A Boy" - The Like

And whilst on the topic of The Like. Watch this short film/music video directed by Gia Coppola for Zac Posen.

I know the twist was my thing for a while but now I've moved onto the mash potato. Listening to too much music from the 60s these days. And sadly, those who unfortunately have to hang with me will most likely be forced into doing the dance with me at shows or mini dances parties that tend to happen in our rooms.

the room is on fire and she's fixing her hair

This week has been something else.

You know how all these little things just seem to build up and by the end of the week you just go beserk as fuck and being rational is the furthest thing from your mind...well that is what happened yesterday.

the rundown:
-I realised I have to get THREE weeks worth of coursework done by Thurday to get assignments in on time and be ahead of the game while I am in NY. No big deal.

-got my hair done...BIG mistake. I never get my hair done. I usually cut my own hair and bangs but I needed a GOOD relaxer (not the bullshit over the counter stuff) because my hair has been uncontrollably curly and I was tired of always wearing it in a bun. So, the lady cut too much of my hair off, after relaxing it she proceeded to CURL it. The whole point of me getting it relaxed was not to have it curly. Oy to the vey.

Anyways, there was a bunch of other things that happened that led to this ridiculous moment of wanting to scream my head off BUT after sitting down, taking a few goddamn breaths, and a couple of phone calls, I just had to DANCE.

This may sound silly but recently instead of crying, getting way too stressed out or overanalyzing the situation. I just put on one of my dance mixes, jump around in my room and dance it out, dance it the fuck out. Then I realize how silly some things are to worry about and life goes on. Like sand through an hour glass (I didn't just say that...)

See examples of dancing it out.

(sooo, yeah, whatever...I watch Grey's Anatomy everyday on Lifetime from 12-3, it's my quite time during the day. Don't judge me.)

Here is my mini playlist of songs I like to dance to:
