this is halloween
Hey guys!!
I know it's been forever and a day since I've made a new post. Going to try and do better with this.
Just got done with a mini stint with Those Darlins and Gambles and can't wait to get all my film developed and edit the photos from my digital. If you are on instagram, you can see what photos I've taken on my phone from this mini adventure. My username is patricesharon, say 'hi'!
In other news, today, like everyone, it is my favorite holiday! HALLOWEEN! I always feel like a little kid when Halloween rolls around. Although, I do not attend the parties or do anything particularly cool. I like to dress up still and hand out candy and have a day of watching classic horror films.
This year I'm Lydia Deetz. It only seems appropriate.
I also have this weird ever growing obsession with 'The Nightmare Before Christmas'. I must have watched it at least several times this month. It never get's old. Tim Burton = GENIUS.

"my whole life is darkroom, one big darkroom" - Lydia (Beetlejuice)

"Oh, somewhere deep inside of these bones, an emptiness began to grow. There’s something out there far from my home, a longing that I’ve never known"
Is it me, or is there something in the air? It seems like a lot of my friends, more so than usual, are in the doldrums. Sure, seasonal depression is common during this time of year, yet there is a little something extra going on. Not just feeling in a funk, but people's energy is not only melancholic but anxious at the same time. I don't know if that makes any sense, I am probably talking out my ass but there is something weird going on. The universe is trying to tell us something.
Lastly, I'd like to announce I will be joining Crocodiles on tour starting in Chicago and ending in Brooklyn. Here are the dates and details. Hope to see some familiar faces out there and meet some new ones!
Until next time...
xoxo

Hey guys, I know it's been a hot minute since I've update the site. Things are crazy around here. One might even say that my life is rather surreal at the moment and I couldn't be happier. So many exciting things coming up within the next several months, one of which is my return back to University and finishing up my degree and also toying with the idea of film school. AHHHH!!
More updates about what I've been up to the past few months very soon. Until then, enjoy the new SISU video. It's completely hypnotic.
Make sure to catch them on tour with Dirty Beaches this fall, I will be at a few of the dates, so come hang!

I got that tunnel vision for you.
Counting down until I see this man next month! I am going to fan girl the fuck out! And I have no shame about it whatsoever.

In the summer in LA, we eat popsicles and hang eternally loose at BBQs or manmade lakes. Echo Park Lake just opened again, so I am particularly looking forward to the parade of bare bellies and men in tank tops. The smog blanket gets even thicker and makes an especially psychedelic sunset behind those transplanted palm trees. That is my favorite.
Felt - Sunlight Bathed the Golden Glow
The Zombies - Walking In The Sun
Dawn Penn - It Must Be Him
SISU's dreamy video for "Two Thousand Hands" has made it's debut today on SPIN! Some serious sultriness going on here. I adore the song and video and can't wait until their full length is released. It's going to be amazing, y'all!

I'm an animal just like you.
I am really behind on keeping things updated on here. Here are some photos from my times in Chicago, Minneapolis, Denver (where I saw Arctic Monkeys and visit with my longtime friend Kelsey and her adorable cat Laika), Lawrence and St. Louis, where I spent time with old friends and made some new ones along the way. Got to see and hang out with my favorite monks, Foals.
This is just a scratch on the surface of some of the photos I took. Sadly, I did lose my disposable camera somewhere along the way, at least I had only taken like 5 photos on it but still...it's always sad when you lose a roll.
more photos soon from all my adventuring...
crawling back to you...
I am proper excited for Arctic Monkey's new album 'AM'. Their new song 'Do I Wanna Know' slays live and come on, the track listing alone guarantees some brilliance. I'm particularly interested to hear what "Why'd You Only Call Me When You're High" and "Knee Socks" will sound like.

I'm not too shy to show I love you, I got no regrets.
I should be slightly embarrassed that I love this song and video so much, but I'm not.
Okay, I'm into this too, whateverrrrr, it's just my life story.

It's finally June and summer is almost "officially" approaching. I thought it would be fun to ask some of my favorite people/musicians/artists/etc what songs get them ready for summer and some other fun questions. Hopefully, every week or bi-weekly I'll be posting a new featured person/contributor.
It's time to pull out those cut offs/never nudes and bust out those rollerblades. Summer is here and the heat doesn't seem to be going anywhere anytime soon!

Orange Juice "Rip it Up"
This tune has been a favorite for years. It makes my foot tap and my head bob gleefully everytime I hear it. Go Edwyn.
Holllie Cook "Walking in the Sand"
What can I say? The girl is a star. Not many folks can take a classic and, dare I say, make it even better than the original. This is a summer tune if I every hear one.
Grudge/ Laurice "When Christine Comes Around"
Granted a bit hostile in lyrics, this (otherwise) carefree song is just poppy enough to make me want to crack open a beer and watch X-Treme fighting (just kidding.)
Make sure to check out Lu Void and like their facebook page, duh!

You're not from New York City, you're from Rotherham
So, I am currently in Denver visiting one of my close friends Kelsey. It's been tradition for quite a while for us to see Arctic Monkeys together every time they come anywhere close to us. And by I mean anywhere close to us, I mean anywhere in the US. Come on, we've been fans since 2004. Now, that is dedication, or stalking. The line there is blurred.
Anyways, so I've been sick for the past two weeks which has been BEYOND awesome due to all the traveling I've been doing and never sleeping. My body is finally saying "awww hell naahhh" to my "can't stop won't stop" motto. Before I left for Denver I developed a stomach bug on top of the cold I've been trying to kick for a while. This morning I woke up feeling like death. So the majority of my day has been spent lying around the apartment with Kelsey's crazy yet lovable cat Laika.
This is what the afternoon has been like.
*UPDATE*
I finally decided to try and make my day somewhat productive and not mopping around the place like I've lost my long lost lover in the war.
I have to get into gig mode, so I can relive my teenage years at the gig tonight. Love that Kelsey and I are going to be the oldest broads up there surrounded by 16 year olds with Xs on there hands...
Rumour has it that the guys have been resurrecting "Dancing Shoes" and "Fake Tales of San Francisco". If this is true, I should probably wear some Depends to the show, because I will pee my pants. Most likely do to my water consumption but whatever...

you eyes have wept a thousand tears...
I saw BRMC this past weekend when I was Chicago and words can't even describe how amazing the show was. Proper post about it later but for now, this song "Fire Walker" (and yes I do have a serious obsession with Twin Peaks)...what a hell of an opener. Rob's lyrics are just so amazing to me and just brings out many emotions especially when I think of that one special person, the one that I lost my grip on and want to know what all went wrong; the what's, how's and why's? Don't we all wonder that, even if it is not with a love one, just life itself begs the question. Maybe were all too blind to see...
ph. Me (Chicago 17th May, The Vic taken on my mobile)
"And maybe I'm too blind to see,
The fire is all that walks with me.
And maybe I'm too starved and weak
But what's inside of you's the same as me."
The fire is all that walks with me.
And maybe I'm too starved and weak
But what's inside of you's the same as me."
I hope you guys like the new layout. Still toying around with things, but for now I think I like it. I am going to TRY and update a lot more. So keep checking and please comment and let me know how you like certain things! I have a few fun posts in the works for summer that will be followed by a playlist. Get excited. I know I am.

get on your dancing shoes, there's one thing on your mind
Feeling very nostalgic about "the old days" and how much fun our little group had.
Although, it was only a few years ago, it seems like forever ago.
All we cared about was having the time of our lives; traveling, dancing, drinking whiskey and going to gigs. University and work fits in there somewhere...

empty veins and my plastic broken crown...
I am getting pretty excited about seeing FOALS a few times next month and in June. Love these fools. And their new album is beyond amazing. Two of my absolute favorite songs off of Holy Fire are "Milk & Black Spiders" and "Late Night". Headphones turned up high are necessary to enjoy the brilliance of both songs. From the lyrics to the arrangements. Just beautiful.

the place beyond the pines
Yeah yeah, I know what you are thinking. You are thinking I just want to see this because Ryan Gosling is in it. Although that has a fair amount to do with it (even though I never did see Gangster Squad), the trailer actually looks interesting. I can only hope the film will be worth 2 hours and 20 minutes of my time...
